Put the closed screw eye hook in the end of the drumstick. I started mine by holding the pointy end on the end of the drumstick with the drumstick on the floor, and then tapping on the top of circle until there was a small indentation in the end of the drumstick. Then I held the hook in one hand putting pressure on it while turning the drumstick (still on the floor) under it to screw it in. When the hook is in place, tie one end of a piece of string through the hole. I used a square knot, aka the reef knot bowline (my square knot vibrated loose). It should look like this (I'll update this picture later to show the new knot):
Cut the string to a convenient length and tie a stopper knot (I used an overhand knot) in the other end to keep the string from unravelling. Then form a slip knot in a convenient location. It should look like this:
Your hand goes through the slip knot, and then you can pull the free end of the string to adjust the loop to a convenient size.
